Do You have Worms?
36 million tons of food waste goes into the landfill each year where it rots and creates 21 times the warming potential of carbon dioxide, accounting for 20 percent of all methane emissions. Why not turn your kitchen waste into rich, organic worm castings and liquid fertilizer?  It costs you nothing. Simply book yourself a 5 gal pail with a lid and keep it on your back porch. Collect kitchen wastes after each meal and put them in the pail. Add the amazing composting worms to the equation and the magic begins; trash to treasure.  Worms eat around 6 times their weight in garbage and the rich black soil they create are like caviar to plants, they love it!

Peace Trail International is offering a opportunity to learn about Vermiculture (composting with worms) at our Hostel location in Golfito.  As part of our Educational Tours we are initiating a community program to collect fresh kitchen waste and save it from the landfill, save the rainforests and save locals some money by selling them inexpensive organic fertilizer from the garbage donation with the proceeds to support this and other programs. Simply Book the your days and nights at our Hostel using this link and with one small price you get your lodging, meals and the buckets and bikes we need to  go collect garbage from the locals Great way to educate folks, learn Spanish, Save the planet..you know..stuff like that!
